Connect your equipment
It is our recommendation to use Fire wire cables as the connection method to the PC. All PCs we recommended is equipped with a 4 pin fire wire connector. You can also use a fire wire card in PCI or PCMCIA format (for notebooks)
There are two main types of input sources:
- Directly from a digital Video source (example - video camera)
- Through a media converter (MC). The MC is used for all devices having an analogue signal out from their system. Examples are; TVs, old video cameras and most of the Video- and DVD players.
To connect your system through a MC follow these steps:
- The Signals MUST go from the OUT ports of the video source (TV, Video player/recorder or Video camera)
- From step 1, put the other end of the cable to the IN port(s) on the MC. The MC normally supports different contacts (RGB, S-video, fire wire) Look at the symbols on the Media converter to make sure they are connected correctly.
- Connect the a fire wire cable from the OUT ports of the MC to the fire wire IN connector on your PC. (See picture)

When you connect your PC tou your video source, directly or through an MC the operating system should notify you that the equipment is connected. If you successfully connect your equipment a popup menu wil be displayed. RESPOND with Take no action to this one.
Another way to see if your equipment is connected is throug the Change device function.
